WOW! What fun from simple strip sets!
You get to have fun twice - first, when you gather the 24 Batiks (or any other fabrics)
and second, when you build this gorgeous EASY quilt. Confident beginner and up.

This is an
all-day workshop.
Select quality fabrics which are 42" - 44" wide. You need
7-1/2" of each of 24 fabrics for this 61" x 86" quilt. Therefore, if you are purchasing,
get 1/4 yard of each. Fat quarters are NOT suitable, as you'll get less useable units from
their strip sets.
Work with full width strips. For borders and binding (mine are black), 1-3/4 yards.
As far as your colors are concerned, VARIETY and
ACTIVITY. Select 3,4, or 24 colors in an assortment of dark, medium dark, medium, and possibly
medium light values. Look for interesting prints that have activity and don't 'read' as
solids. You do want them to work together, such as my Jewel tones or Earth tones.
If you'd like a larger quilt, add more fabrics.
This is a large lap, 52" x 77" before borders. A Queen would require approximately 43
fabrics. A King would need about 55 fabrics.
BEFORE CLASS, press, refold, and
cut the 24 fabrics ACCURATELY across the 42" width. From each of the 24 colors, cut:
(2) 3" strips
(1) 1-1/2" strip
Bring the
remainder of your fabric to class. You may be speedy
and need more, or you could discover a cutting error
and need more.
