This quilt looks SO impressive, and
yet is quite simple to piece by my unique method. You'll absolutely love the results!
This is a
3 or 6 hour workshop.
Use quality fabrics which are 42" - 44" wide.
Select two contrasting fabrics.
Lap - 120 blocks - 62" x 74"
Twin - 160 blocks - 62" x 98"
Queen - 252 blocks - 86" x 110"
King - 324 blocks - 110" x 110"
Yardages shown in parenthesis (Lap, Twin, Queen, King)
Light fabric - (3-1/2,4-1/2,7-1/4,9-1/3) yards
Dark fabric - (3-1/2,4-1/2,7-1/4,9-1/3) yards
Borders & Binding - choose your favorite from above & add (1,1-1/4,1-1/3,1-5/8)
Backing - (4, 6, 8,10) yards
Pre-Cutting: Cut across the 40" width of the fabric.
From EACH Fabric:
Cut (8,10,16,21) 5-1/8" strips into
(60,80,126,162) 5-1/8" squares & then diagonally
Cut (18,23,36,47) 1-3/4" strips into
(120,160,252,324) 1-3/4" x 5-1/2"
Cut (24,32,51,65) 1-3/4" strips - bring them as strips
Borders & Binding:
Cut (7,9,10,12) 2-1/2" strips for Binding
Cut (7,9,10,12) 1-3/4" strips for Border
Bring your left over fabric.
Also Bring to class:
Sewing Machine with GOOD 1/4" foot -
(machines provided at Houston Quilt Festival)
Rotary cutter
Rotary cutting mat
12" or larger square ruler
Rotary cutting ruler - needs a 45 degree line on it
Scissors
Thread Snips -- faster than scissors
Neutral thread
Pins
Angler - for stitching diagonals
Wallpaper Roller for finger pressing
Cushion to sit on
Small trash bag .
