Based on art glass designed by Mr. Wright,
patchwork for quilting can be very exciting. Explore the use of strata sets and diagonal
cuts to create a design which is full of new techniques. Each student will select one
of these four 'windows' to create in class.
2-3 days. Intermediate quilters.
Bring to class:
Your FAVORITE Sewing Machine with GOOD 1/4" foot
FL Wright book (available at class)
Rotary
cutter
Rotary
cutting mat
Rotary
cutting ruler - with both a 45 and 60 degree lines on it
Scissors or Thread Snips
Reverse Stitching Tool (ripper)
Black or Dark
colored thread
Cushion to Sit on
Small
trash bag .
Before class, cut 25 strips of Black - 3/4" x width of fabric
Bring remainder of Black to class.
About the background fabric: It should be a very pale pastel or other light neutral.
I doubt that you want muslin, but a light beige about that value would be good or very
pale grey. Parchment and Shell from Springs work well. Very pale pastels - very pale.
Probably not white, as white is SOOO white.

Select Nine different colored fabrics - 1/4 yard of each
Background - 7/8 yard
Black - 1-1/4 yards

Select Eight different colored fabrics - 1/4 yard of each
Background - 3/4 yard
Black - 1-1/4 yards
Darwin Martin TREE OF LIFE:
Select Six different colored fabrics - 1/3 yard of each
Background - 2-1/4 yard
Black - 1-5/8 yards

Select Nine different colored fabrics - 1/8 yard of each
