Enjoy a mysterious day starting a great 67" x 85" lap quilt,
having fun, and learning some new tricks for piecing.
This is an
all-day workshop.
Shhh'06 MYSTERY FABRIC PHOTOS
Select quality fabrics which are 42" - 44" wide.
To begin, the 'trick' to a successful Mystery is
LOTS of contrast, AND awareness of values.
Begin by selecting a Feature Print. There are a couple of choices here - - - you may select
a fabulous print that will allow you to Fussy cut 4-1/2" (cut 5") squares OR, you could print
photos of your pets, children, vacation, etc. in a size that would allow you to exhibit 4-1/2"
(cut 5") squares.
Let the Bright Accent Color be exactly that - lively. Not a terribly busy print, but busier
than a solid. Lively and Bright.
Light is light - a very strong contrast to the Dark Background. It will never touch the Feature Print.
The Dark Background can have some activity, but shouldn't 'pull' your eye - i.e., it's a Background.
Mine is Teal.
You could swap the values for the Dark Background and the Light. You really want three distinctly
different colors for the Dark Background, Light, and Bright Accent. Don't let them blend together.
YARDAGE:
There are 4 sizes offered: a Lap, Twin, Queen, and King. Their yardage is shown in parenthesis as
(Lap,Twin,Queen,King) The Lap is 67" x 85", Twin is 67" x 103", Queen is 85" x 103",
and King is 103" x 103".
