Enjoy a mysterious day starting a great 52" x 68" lap quilt (or larger!),
having fun, and learning some new tricks for piecing.
This is an
all-day workshop.
Shhh'08 MYSTERY FABRIC PHOTOS
Select quality fabrics which are 42" - 44" wide.
To begin, the 'trick' to a successful Mystery is
LOTS of contrast, AND awareness of values.
Begin by deciding on TWO COLORS and a background.
Of EACH of the two colors, select two values -- not too far apart. . . . i.e a Medium DARK and a MEDIUM
Background is Background. Light or Dark - just different from the Colors.
I used two pinks, two greens, and an ecru background.
YARDAGE:
There are 4 sizes offered: a Lap, Twin, Queen, and King. Their yardage is shown in parenthesis as
(Lap,Twin,Queen,King) The Lap is 52" x 68", Twin is 68" x 100", Queen is 84" x 108",
and King is 108" x 108".
Pink 1 - the lighter of the two - (5/8 yd,1 yd, 1-1/2 yds, 1-3/4 yds)
Pink 2 - (2/3 yd, 1-3/8 yds, 2 yds, 2-1/2 yds)
Green 1 - the lighter of the two -(1/2 yd, 2/3 yd, 1 yd, 1-1/4 yds)
Green 2 - (1/4 yd, 3/8 yd, 1/2 yd, 5/8 yd)
Background - (2-1/4 yds, 4-2/3 yds, 6-2/3 yds, 8-2/3 yds)
Outer Border and Binding - cut lengthwise- (2 yds, 3 yds, 3-1/4 yds, 3-1/4 yds)
Backing - (3-1/3 yds, 6-1/8 yds, 7-7/8 yds, 10 yds)
