Please provide us with a two sentence overview of yourself.

I am a Texas girl that loves her family, sports, and the outdoors. I love a challenge and am all about getting better every day.

I was diagnosed in 1987 at age 10.

Animas® OneTouch Ping®

Give us a fun fact about yourself!

I love the outdoors and am a huge Dallas Cowboy fan!

Why did you choose an Animas® insulin pump?

I chose the Animas® Pump because I love the flexibility it provides with my busy lifestyle.

Why do you like your job?

I enjoy working with College Golf Camps of America (CGC) because it gives me the opportunity to help educate and encourage young aspiring golfers to reach their potential. It is so fulfilling to talk to the participants and parents after one of our camps and hear all of the positive feedback on their experiences.

What was your life like before an insulin pump?

I took two shots a day for 11 years. It was a lot of planning meals and taking shots on the fly, but it was the only type of management I was aware of at the time. Then I learned about the Animas pump and my life and control changed dramatically for the better.

What are the main challenges with living with type 1 diabetes?

I don't view living with diabetes as a challenge. I wake up every day and know that it is my responsibility to take care of myself and maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Some days are more challenging than others, but that is true for anyone.

What advice would you give to others your age who are newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes?

Get educated. Education is your biggest asset when it comes to diabetes. The more you learn and understand about living with diabetes, the easier it is to manage and do the things that you want and dream to do.
